A Sunflower in Vauthiermont

On a summer day, while I was walking in the village of Vauthiermont, in the East of France, I came across a sunflower that seemed to be struggling with all its might against the drought. 

While almost all the flowers around it had wilted, it stood tall, majestic, its central spiral offered to the eyes of anyone who wished to admire it.

I found it truly beautiful and was fascinated by the symmetry of its colours and its centre. So I wanted to pay tribute to it by immortalising it, in my own way. Feel free to take a quick look at the original photo that I took to create this painting.
